This program focuses on helping artists clearly and confidently articulate their work. Participants will learn how to write a compelling artist statement that reflects their practice, materials, and ideas, as well as how to craft a concise elevator pitch for conversations with curators, collectors, and fellow artists.

Topics include:

What makes an effective artist statement

Adapting your statement for different audiences and opportunities

Writing and refining a short elevator pitch

Common pitfalls and how to avoid them

Peer feedback and guided revision

The workshop is available at $50 SSG members / $65 non-members. This program is designed for emerging and mid-career artists seeking to strengthen their professional practice, though artists at all stages are welcome.

This is an in-person workshop held at Second Street Gallery and will be lead by Kristen Chiacchia with CM Turner.
